Children's Ministry At Shepherd of the Heart our mission is to bring the Word of Christ to the Children's Ministry in an entertaining and exciting way. Our ministry is a great way for the children to make friends in Christ that they may have for a life-time. We want to guide and lead our children in the right path so that they make wonderful choices. The Children's Ministry serves newborns through 5th grade. Groups consist of our nursery, ages newborn to two, our preschool room, ages 3 and 4, and the Hive which is kindergarten through 5th grade. After completing 5th grade, children transition into Shepherd of the Heart's wonderful youth group led by Kelly Roberts. The Children's Ministry works together with Kidstuf, "where kids bring their parents to church", to teach our kids about God, focusing on monthly virtues. Each Sunday during worship services, the kids learn about the monthly virtue through a wide variety of activities. We incorporate games, acting, friendly competitions, movies, arts and crafts and more. The preschool program also incorporates age appropriate lessons based on our monthly virtue. At Shepherd of the Heart we welcome all children to come and learn about God and to experience the life changing power of His grace.
y name is Ashley Hoskins, and I'm the Children's Ministry Director here at SOTH. I've been here since the summer of 2010. I am proud to say that I am apart of a wonderful church family. I fell in love with SOTH the first day I came. I was born in Chicago and grew up in the Houston. I attended Hampton University and graduated in 2006 with a degree in Political Science.
My educational career began with the Houston Independent School District. I have been a substitute teacher and a teachers assistant with the district. I absolutely love to read magazines. I have been called a social butterfly, I really love people. I am also politically active in Harris County. I often do campaign work for candidates during election time. I aspire to one day run for a political office. It is a true joy to work with the children of SOTH, they are full of many ideas and personalities. I learn so much from them.
